School Boundary Changes at Harriet Tubman and Roseway Heights Middle Schools

Resolution 5308 (Intent to Open Tubman and Roseway Heights Middle Schools for 2017-18 School Year) directed PPS staff to deliver "school initiation reports" and recommendations for school boundaries, feeder patterns, and program locations by December 2017.

The original plan was to reopen the two schools for the 2017 school year, but this did not end up happening. The Recommendations for the school boundaries were successfully delivered prior to December 2017 in the form of Resolution 5451.

Resolution 5451 requested that the Superintendent "further develop an implementation plan for Roseway Heights School and Harriet Tubman Middle School" such that they could open in the 2018-2019 school year, a year later than initially planned.

This was followed through on through two Resolutions: Resolution 5528 and Resolution 5534.

Resolution 5528 required the Superintendent conduct a contingency planning process for an alternative middle school site, with the goal to open Harriet Tubman Middle School on schedule.

The school opened on schedule in 2018, as part of a broader shift from K-8 schools to separate elementary and middle schools.
