General Resources/Orgs

Organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities in getting supports that they are legally entitled to. Their Children's Rights Project supports students with disabilities in Oregon and helps individuals get access to equitable and supportive education. They also refer clients to a larger network of support resources in their local area.

Organization specializing in disability assistance for children both at home and in schools. Offers virtual trainings for families of children with disabilities on topics such as navigating IEPs and transition between grades, as well as a hotline staffed by parents of youth with disabilities. The hotline can help navigate the IEP/504 process and provide other special education or disability guidance. Also has an excellent online resource library.

Case management agency for children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. For eligible individuals, case managers assist with creating an individual support plan, which includes counseling for families, advocacy, in-home supports, assistive devices, and attendant care. Does not provide special education services, but acts as an additional support program in addition to what's offered in schools, usually for higher need cases.

Academic Support Speciality Resources

Organization with local chapters aimed at supporting students and families of students with dyslexia. Provides IEP and 504 support services, as well as a directory/assistance with finding tutors and academic supports for children.

Organization supporting children and adults with dyslexia in academic settings. Provides guidance on assessment for dyslexia, support for students with dyslexia, and has tutors that can support students one-on-one in improving literacy skills. Offers some financial aid/scholarships.

Disability Specific Resources

Family support network for individuals with Down syndrome. Offers family resources on what to do after receiving a Down syndrome diagnosis as well as educational resources on Down syndrome.

Organization with local resources for supporting children and individuals with Autism. Includes guides on signs of Autism, what to do after diagnosis, educational support, directories of medical and therapy supports, and legal advocacy help.

Family support groups, events, equipment help, and skills/care supports for families and children with cerebral palsy and other similar conditions.

Parent/Family-Specific Resources

A guide on speaking to a child's school regarding a one-on-one paraprofessional to help the child. Offers information on eligibility for services and knowing your child's rights.

Information and guidance on helping children with disabilities that face bullying.

Organization hosting a parent warmline and support groups to provide systems navigation assistance and emotional support to families. Connections with peer support and community resources based on the needs of children.
