Mt. Tabor Middle School PTA is a chapter of the Oregon PTA.

As an umbrella organization, Oregon PTA describes it’s mission and values as follows:

PTA MISSION
The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
PTA VALUES
Collaboration
We work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to accomplish our agreed-upon goals.
Commitment
We are dedicated to promoting children’s health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent, family, and community involvement.
Accountability
We acknowledge our obligations. We deliver on our promises.
Respect
We value our colleagues and ourselves. We expect the same high quality of effort and thought from ourselves as we do from others.
Inclusivity
We invite the stranger and welcome the newcomer. We value and seek input from as wide a spectrum of viewpoints and experiences as possible.
Integrity
We act consistently with our beliefs. When we err, we acknowledge the mistake and seek to make amends.

Governance

Our Mt. Tabor Middle School PTA is governed by the state bylaws (set at the state level of PTA) and the standing rules (written and voted in by our local MTMS chapter board and general membership). We actively recruit for the following board member positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. We try to also appoint an Auditor and Committee Chairs as necessary.

Activities

As a local PTA chapter, Mt. Tabor Middle School PTA (MTMS PTA) focuses on the specific needs of the community of Mt. Tabor Middle School – the students, families, teachers and staff. As such, we traditionally support the school by funding classroom grants, teacher reimbursement of classroom supplies, counselor supplies, library activities, band activities, and other school programs. We coordinate Staff Appreciation Week, decorations for 8th grade promotion, and arrange drives for families in need. Depending on volunteer availability, we pursue a variety of fundraisers including selling school spirit wear, organizing a Trailblazers Family Night Out, and scheduling Restaurant Dine-Outs.

Communications

Membership

Joining the PTA allows us to keep up the support for classrooms, teachers, students, activities, and special events at MTMS. Currently, membership is $15 per person per school year.
