Introduction

Oregon PTA

The Oregon Parent-Teacher Association, or Oregon PTA, is part of the National Parent-Teacher Organization, one of the oldest parent advocacy nonprofits in the country. The National PTA and the Oregon PTA have a long history of connections to teachers' unions and local school districts, and often put on events to help raise money for the school and their advocacy efforts. In PPS, there are a number of local chapters that each represent a corresponding school. In order to join your local PTA, you must pay annual dues, ranging from approximately $10 to $25, depending on your chapter. The following PPS schools have an incorporated PTA:

PTOS vs PTAs

PTAs are distinct from Parent Teacher Organizations, which are not affiliated with a state or national entity. They both offer more freedom for individual decision-making, but lack the resources of a PTA. The following schools have a PTO:

The Fund for PPS

The Fund for PPS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) incorporated in 2019 for the purpose of fundraising on behalf of the entire district. In 2024, the Board passed Policy 7.10.020-P, which eliminated the need for individual school communities to raise money individually for their respective schools.
