The PPS school district is made up of seven zones[1] that divide the district for the purposes of ensuring each Board member is from different areas of the PPS district. Those who wish to run for a zone must: be a registered voter in that respective zone and must be a resident of the district for 1-year preceding the election. Board members are elected once every 4 years, and candidates are elected district-wide, meaning that no matter what zone you live in, your ballot will contain all zone candidates. The Willamette River is the functional boundary for all attendance areas. Below is a brief description of each zone, which schools are found in each zone, and how to find out which board member is currently representing each zone. [2]
